Lucas Morel is the Worsham Teaching Fellow at Hillsdale College’s Van Andel Graduate School of Government in Washington, D.C. His expertise is in political philosophy, black American politics, and the life and works of Abraham Lincoln. Dr. Morel serves as a professor in the politics department at Washington and Lee University, and at Ashland University in the Master’s Program for American History and Government. He has previously taught at John Brown University and in summer programs for the Claremont Institute. Morel has served as President of the Abraham Lincoln Institute, as a Visiting Research Fellow at the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions at Princeton, and as a member of the board of advisors on the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission. He is a trustee of the Supreme Court Historical Society and a consultant on Library of Congress exhibits on Lincoln and the Civil War. He recently published a book titled Lincoln and the American Founding.
