Hillsdale in D.C. Welcomes Spring 2024 Class of Students to Intern and Study in Washington, D.C.

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College in D.C. recently welcomed 18 students to the nation’s capital for the spring semester as a part of its Washington-Hillsdale Internship Program (WHIP). Through the program, students participate in full-time internships while taking evening classes on Hillsdale’s campus in D.C.
 
“Through WHIP, students are challenged to balance work and academics. WHIP effectively prepares students for life beyond college. Participants are given the opportunity to apply all that Hillsdale teaches them in a professional atmosphere,” said Mary Wheeler, Hillsdale in D.C.’s undergraduate program coordinator.
 
WHIP students are interning at The Department of State; The Department of Treasury; Maria Crosby Designs, LLC; Family Research Council; Patomak Global Partners; Modern Age; The Claremont Institute; America’s Future; The Heritage Foundation; Alliance Defending Freedom; National Republican Congressional Committee; and with various Congressional offices, including Speaker Mike Johnson; Representative Alex Mooney; Senator Chuck Grassley; and the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
 
Students on the WHIP program take two or three classes in the evenings. The courses are taught by a mix of Hillsdale College professors and distinguished fellows, who live and work in Washington, D.C., This provides a rare opportunity to study politics, journalism, and economics from prominent working professionals, such as journalist Mollie Hemingway.
 
Juniors and seniors of all majors can participate in the Washington-Hillsdale Internship Program.
