HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College faculty wrote, edited, or contributed to six books published during the 2023-24 school year, joining the academic discourse on politics, philosophy, history, religion, and more.
“The best teachers are those who continue to pursue their own studies” said Christopher VanOrman, Hillsdale College provost. “The knowledge and efforts of these faculty members are a benefit both to the broader academic community and to their students here at the College, and we celebrate this recognition of their achievements.”
Publications include:
“Seemings and the Foundations of Justification: A Defense of Phenomenal Conservatism” by Blake McAllister, associate professor of philosophy.
“Encountering Artificial Intelligence: Ethical and Anthropological Investigations” co-edited by Jordan J. Wales, associate professor of theology and John and Helen Kuczmarski chair in theology.
“Leisure with Dignity: Essays in Celebration of Charles R. Kesler” co-edited by Michael Anton, lecturer in government.
“Masters of Corruption: How the Federal Bureaucracy Sabotaged the Trump Presidency” by Mark Moyar, William P. Harris chair of military history.
“Sparta’s Sicilian Proxy War: The Grand Strategy of Classical Sparta, 418-413 B.C.” by Paul Rahe, professor of history and Charles O. Lee and Louise K. Lee chair in the Western heritage.
“The Word Made Flesh for Us: A Treatise on Christology & the Sacraments from Hooker’s Laws” co-edited by Patrick Timmis, assistant professor of English.
Hillsdale College employs 168 full-time instructional faculty, 90% with a terminal degree in their discipline. Through required courses in disciplines such as history, literature, science and politics, Hillsdale College’s core curriculum helps students to develop the “philosophical habit of mind” essential to sound education.
