Hillsdale College in D.C. hosted author and professor Dr. Matthew Mehan for a special preview of his new book, The Handsome Little Cygnet. The event was well attended and included a reading, illustration display, and discussion “woke” education.
The book, illustrated by John Folley, details the story of a pair of swans and their cygnet—or baby swan—in Central Park, Manhattan, as the cygnet begins to grow up. Folley’s designs and oil artistry have illustrated various children’s books, crests and logos, and illuminations. Each page of The Handsome Little Cygnet contains carefully crafted artwork and poetic lines to deliver a rich story for children growing up today.
“Too much today children are taught that the distinction between the real and unreal is arbitrary, and this leaves them in doubt about everything including who and what they are,” said Larry P. Arnn, president of Hillsdale College. “This splendid book will set them on the road away from this madness and toward the good that they are made to love.”
The Handsome Little Cygnet is published by TAN Books and was released on July 20. Those interested may purchase a copy from TAN, Amazon, and other bookstores across the country.
